Tiina Hohn receives the 2019 Adrien Pouliot Award (Aug 1)
The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) is pleased to announce that Tiina Hohn of MacEwan University (AB) is the recipient of the 2019 Adrien Pouliot Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to mathematics education. The award will be presented at the 2019 CMS Winter Meeting in Toronto.
All Members of Math Team Canada Win Medals at the 2019 IMO (Jul 23)
Math Team Canada 2019 returns from the 60th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in Bath, England with one Gold medal, one Silver medal and four Bronze medal. The six team members competed separately, answering six grueling questions in a competition lasting two days, four and a half hours each day. More than 600 high school students competed at the 2019 IMO.

Canadian Mathematical Society announces Mitacs Innovation Lecture series (Jun 7)
The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) and Mitacs are pleased to announce the establishment of the Mitacs Innovation Lecture series. Starting in December 2020 in conjunction with the CMS 2020 Winter Meeting in Montreal, Quebec, the Mitacs Innovation Lectures will illuminate the mathematical underpinnings of significant innovative developments that impact our world.
2019 CMS G. de B. Robinson Award Recipients Announced (Jun 6)
Lars Louder (University College London) and Henry Wilton (University of Cambridge) have been named the recipients of the Canadian Mathematical Society’s (CMS) 2019 G. de B. Robinson Award. The G. de B. Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the Canadian Journal of Mathematics (CJM) or the Canadian Mathematical Bulletin (CMB).
Dr. Mikhail Karpukhin named recipient of the 2019 CMS Doctoral Prize (May 2)

In Memoriam - Walter Craig (Jan 25)
The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) is saddened to share the news of the passing of distinguished professor Walter Craig (McMaster). Professor Craig was a valuable member of the Society for several years and served as the Director of the Fields Institute from 2013-2015.
Record Number of Students Write the Canadian Open Math Challenge (Jan 18)
More than 8,000 students wrote the Open on November 8, 2018. For the 2018 COMC, in partnership with the Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN - Beijing), more than 900 high school students in China registered to write the competition.
