Math Team Canada 2017 wins Olympiad gold, silver and bronze (Jul 26)
Math Team Canada 2017 returns from the 58th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with five medals and one honourable mention. Team leader James Rickards says the 2017 IMO was the “the most difficult IMO yet; only 7 out of more than 600 students obtained marks on problem #3.”
Alan Beardon receives the 2017 G. de B. Robinson Award (Jun 16)

Dr. Konstantin Tikhomirov to receive the 2017 CMS Doctoral Prize (Jun 14)

Math Team Canada Poised to Take on the World (Jun 9)
The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) is pleased to announce that Canada’s six top math students are on their way to compete at the 58th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in Rio de Janeiro July 12 – 23, 2017.The six students were chosen by the Canadian Mathematical Society IMO committee, largely based on the results of the Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (November 2016) and the Canadian Mathematical Olympiad (March 2017).

Professor Sabin Cautis to receive the 2017 CMS Coxeter-James Prize (Mar 29)
The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) is pleased to announce that Professor Sabin Cautis (University of British Columbia), an internationally recognized researcher and an expert in geometric representation theory and categorification, has been named the recipient of the 2017 CMS Coxeter-James Prize for his outstanding contributions to mathematical research.
Cautis will receive his award and present a lecture at the CMS Winter Meeting in Waterloo, Ontario, December 8-11, 2017.
Stephanie van Willigenburg to receive the 2017 CMS Krieger-Nelson Prize (Mar 7)

2017 CMS Jeffery-Williams Prize for his exceptional contributions to mathematical research.
McCann will receive his award and present a lecture at the beginning of the Mathematical Congress of the Americas in July 2017.
Top Students Recognized in Canada’s Premiere National Mathematics Competition (Jan 12)
Three students have tied for top national honours after competing with 6,550 students across the world in Canada’s premiere national mathematics competition on November 3, 2016.
Thomas Guo (Olympiads School, North York, Ont.), Rui Ming Xiong (Western Canada H.S., Calgary, Alta.) and Daniel Zhou (Centennial Collegiate, Saskatoon, Sask.) have been recognized as the top Canadian students in the 21st annual Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (COMC) sponsored by Sun Life Financial.
