Canadian Girls' Math Team Wins Two Medals and an Honourable Mention at the European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad (Apr 21)
The Canadian Mathematical Society is pleased to announce that Girls’ Math Team Canada has won one Silver, one Bronze and an Honourable Mention in the 2020 European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO).
Dr. Duncan Dauvergne Named 2020 recipient of the CMS Doctoral Prize (Apr 3)
The Canadian Mathematical Society is pleased to announce that Dr. Duncan Dauvergne (Princeton) is named the 2020 Doctoral Prize recipient. Dr. Dauvergne will present a prize lecture and receive his award at the CMS Winter meeting in Montreal, Québec, December 4-7, 2020.

Postponement of 2020 CMS 75th Anniversary Summer Meeting (Mar 27)
The CMS has decided to postpone the 2020 CMS 75th anniversary Summer Meeting that was to take place this June 2020 to summer 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
CMS Office Remains Open through Telework (Mar 17)
As per the advice of Canadian public health authorities and for the safety of our staff and their families the CMS office will continue to provide support to the Canadian mathematical community through teleworking.

Esteemed Mathematician, Richard Kenneth Guy, dies at 103 (Mar 16)
Richard Kenneth Guy, an esteemed mathematician, an "inquisitive problem solver" and a CMS lifetime member passed away on March 9, 2020. He will be missed by the CMS and the mathematical community.
COVID-19 Update (Mar 12)
Due to the recent increase of COVID-19 cases in Canada, many of you may have questions about the impact on the 75th CMS Anniversary Meeting in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. 
Indigenous Scholarship - Master of Mathematics for Teachers (MMT) (Mar 5)
Up to five scholarships, each valued at a maximum of $15,000, will be awarded annually to students entering into the Master of Mathematics for Teachers (MMT) program at the University of Waterloo.
CMS Doctoral Prize to be Renamed CMS Blair Spearman Doctoral Prize (Mar 3)
Ottawa, ON - The Canadian Mathematical Society is pleased to announce that as of 2021, the CMS Doctoral Prize will be renamed the CMS Blair Spearman Doctoral Prize in honour of the late mathematician, Dr. Blair Kenneth Spearman.
Dr. Jacopo De Simoi to receive the 2020 Coxeter-James Prize (Feb 19)
OTTAWA (ON) – The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) is pleased to announce that Dr. Jacopo De Simoi (Toronto) has been named the recipient of the 2020 Coxeter-James Prize for his work in the area of dynamical systems.  Dr. De Simoi will receive his award and present a prize lecture during the CMS Winter Meeting in Montreal, Quebec, December 4-7, 2020.

Dr. Sujatha Ramdorai to receive the 2020 Krieger-Nelson Prize (Feb 14)
Ottawa (ON) - The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) is pleased to announce that Dr. Sujatha Ramdorai (UBC) has been named the recipient of the 2020 Krieger-Nelson Prize for her exceptional contributions to mathematics research.  Dr. Ramdorai will receive her award and present a prize lecture during the CMS Summer Meeting in Ottawa, Ontario, June 5-8, 2020.  

Professor Juncheng Wei to receive the 2020 CMS Jeffery-Williams Prize (Feb 11)
The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) is pleased to announce that Juncheng Wei (UBC) has been named the recipient of the 2020 CMS Jeffery-Williams Prize for his exceptional contributions to the theoretical development and interdisciplinary applications of nonlinear partial differential equations.  Dr. Wei will receive his award and present a prize lecture during the CMS Summer Meeting in Ottawa, Ontario, June 5-8, 2020.

More than 7,000 Students Take Part in the Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (Jan 16)
The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) is pleased to announce the results of the 2019 Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (COMC). The COMC is supported by the Actuarial Profession, particularly the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and the Society of Actuaries (SOA).

UNESCO has proclaimed March 14 (Pi Day) as the International Day of Mathematics (IDM) (Jan 6)
The International Day of Mathematics (IDM) is a worldwide celebration. Each year on March 14 all countries will be invited to participate through activities for both students and the general public in schools, museums, libraries and other spaces.
