**Christiane Rousseau**(Montréal), will receive the inaugural Bertrand Russell Prize of the American Mathematical Society (AMS) in recognition of her many contributions furthering human values and the common good through mathematics.

^{th}International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in Rio de Janeiro July 12 – 23, 2017.The six students were chosen by the Canadian Mathematical Society IMO committee, largely based on the results of the Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (November 2016) and the Canadian Mathematical Olympiad (March 2017).

*2017 CMS Coxeter-James Prize*(Mar 29)

**Professor Sabin Cautis**(University of British Columbia), an internationally recognized researcher and an expert in geometric representation theory and categorification, has been named the recipient of the

*2017 CMS Coxeter-James Prize*for his outstanding contributions to mathematical research.

Cautis will receive his award and present a lecture at the CMS Winter Meeting in Waterloo, Ontario, December 8-11, 2017.

*2017 CMS Krieger-Nelson Prize*(Mar 7)

**Professor Stephanie van Willigenburg**(University of British Columbia) has been named the recipient of the

*2017 CMS Krieger-Nelson Prize*for her exceptional contributions to mathematical research.

Prof. van Willigenburg will present a lecture and receive her award in conjunction with the Mathematical Congress of the Americas in Montreal in July 2017.

*2017 CMS Jeffery-Williams Prize*(Feb 27)

**Professor Robert McCann**(University of Toronto) has been named the recipient of the

*2017 CMS Jeffery-Williams Prize*for his exceptional contributions to mathematical research.

McCann will receive his award and present a lecture at the beginning of the Mathematical Congress of the Americas in July 2017.

*Canadian Journal of Mathematics*Announced by the CMS (Jan 17)

The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) is pleased to announce that **Louigi Addario-Berry** and **Eyal Goren*** *of McGill University have been appointed as the incoming Editors-in-Chief of the* Canadian Journal of Mathematics *(CJM).

Three students have tied for top national honours after competing with 6,550 students across the world in Canada’s premiere national mathematics competition on November 3, 2016.

Thomas Guo (Olympiads School, North York, Ont.), Rui Ming Xiong (Western Canada H.S., Calgary, Alta.) and Daniel Zhou (Centennial Collegiate, Saskatoon, Sask.) have been recognized as the top Canadian students in the 21st annual Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (COMC) sponsored by Sun Life Financial.
