Canada and international launch of Mathematics of Planet Earth (MPE2013) (Dec 5)
The Canada and international launch of Mathematics of Planet Earth (MPE2013) will take place on December 7th at the CMS Winter Meeting in Montreal. More than 100 societies, universities, research institutes, and organizations have joined in a major world-wide initiative: Mathematics of Planet Earth (MPE) 2013. This year-long effort will highlight the contributions made by mathematics in tackling global problems, including natural disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes and tsunamis; climate change; sustainability; and pandemics.
CMS MPE2013 Lecture Series (Dec 5)
As part of an international celebration of the Mathematics of Planet Earth during the year 2013, the CMS, in collaboration with the Atlantic Association for the Advancement of Research in the Mathematical Sciences (AARMS), the Centre de Recherches Mathématiques (CRM), the Fields Institute and the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS), is proud to sponsor a cross-Canada series of public lectures during the year, given by some of the most eminent experts in the various fields touched upon by this wide theme.
2012 G. de B. Robinson Award Winners Announced (Oct 24)

Math Team Canada 2012 Wins Olympiad Gold, Silver and Bronze (Jul 16)
Six Canadian high school students are celebrating their success as they return home from the 53rd International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in Mar del Plata, Argentina. Each of the six students earned a medal for Canada after competing against over 500 students at the world’s most challenging high school level mathematics competition.

Canadian Professor Receives Prestigious International Award (Feb 27)
The International Commission on Mathematical Instruction (ICMI) has announced that Luis Radford of Laurentian University is the recipient of the 2011 Hans Freudenthal Medal. The award recognizes outstanding achievement in mathematics education research, and in particular a major cumulative research program.

AARMS Summer School 2012 (Jan 31)
The 11th annual Summer School of the Atlantic Association for Research in the Mathematical Sciences (AARMS) will take place at Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, from July 16 to August 10, 2012. The school, which offers courses in the mathematical sciences and their applications, is intended for graduate students from all parts of the world.
IMO Team Member and CMS Member Receives Prestigious UK Scholarship (Jan 13)
