Linear algebra: Is possible at a distance |
Introductory linear algebra was taught as a distance education course as part of a masters in education program for inservice teachers. It relied on satelite classes, e-mail discussions and chat sessions to establish communication between the members of the course. Emphasis in this talk will be on the types of interaction that took place among different virtual student groups and the mathematical content of these exchanges. We will also concentrate on the differences between a regular setting and this medium, and their consequences for teaching and learning.
