The Department of Mathematics and Statistics of Université Laval wishes to nominate a candidate for the 2002 University Faculty Award competition of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, information about which can be found at the website http://www.nserc.ca/programs/sf/41_e.htm. This competition is restricted to women.
Though not excluding any candidature a priori, the Department will give priority to candidates demonstrating an exceptional research potential in algebra, analysis, applied mathematics or statistics. In addition, candidates must show evidence of teaching ability, including teaching to large groups, and must be able to lecture in French.
If the candidate nominated by the Department is successful in the competition, then she will be offered a regular position in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics starting June 1, 2002. The post will carry with it a 50% teaching-load reduction for the whole of the period covered by the award.

In accordance with Canadian immigration law, to be eligible, candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada at the moment of submission of the application to NSERC.
Le Département de mathématiques et de statistique de l'Université Laval désire présenter une candidature au concours 2002 du Programme d'appui aux professeurs universitaires du Conseil de recherches en sciences naturelles et en génie, au sujet duquel on trouve des renseignements à l'adresse http://www.nserc.ca/programs/schol4_f.htm. Ce concours est réservé aux candidats de sexe féminin.
Sans refuser de candidature a priori, le Département donnera la priorité aux candidates ayant démontré un excellent potentiel de recherche en algèbre, en analyse, en mathématiques appliquées ou en statistique. De plus, la candidate devra faire la preuve qu'elle a les capacités pédagogiques et linguistiques requises pour enseigner en français, y compris à de grands groupes.
Si la candidature supportée par le Département est retenue, la candidate se verra offrir un poste régulier à l'Université Laval, avec entrée en fonction le premier juin 2002. Ce poste sera assorti d'une libération de tâche d'enseignement de 50 % durant toute la période de validité de la subvention.
