The Department of Mathematics and Statistics of Université Laval wishes to nominate a candidate in the next round of the competition Programme stratégique de professeurs-chercheurs of the Fonds FCAR, information about which can be found at the website http://www.fcar.qc.ca/subventions/nouveau/scind.html. This competition is restricted to researchers having obtained their doctorate since December 31, 1996.
Priority will be given to candidates demonstrating an exceptional research potential in the areas of development of the Department, of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and of the University, in particular : biostatistics, cryptography, experimental mathematics and financial mathematics.
In addition, candidates must show evidence of teaching ability, including teaching to large groups, and must be able to lecture in French.
If the candidate submitted by the Department is successful in the competition, then he or she will be offered a regular position in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics starting June 1, 2002, subject to being a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada at that time. The post will carry with it a 25% teaching-load reduction for at least two years.

On favorisera particulièrement la biostatistique, la cryptographie, les mathématiques expérimentales ou les mathématiques financières.
En outre, les candidats devront faire la preuve qu'ils ont les capacités pédagogiques et linguistiques requises pour enseigner en français, y compris à de grands groupes.
Si la candidature supportée par notre département est retenue, ce candidat se verra offrir un poste régulier au Département de mathématiques et de statistique, avec entrée en fonction le 1er juin 2002, à la condition qu'il soit résident permanent du Canada à ce moment. Ce poste sera assorti d'une libération de 25 % de la tâche d'enseignement, pendant au moins deux ans.
