Une solide performance au DOCM est la principale façon pour un élève de recevoir une invitation à un concours de niveau supérieur.
Bien que le DOCM soit ouvert à tout élève qui s’intéresse aux mathématiques, l’Olympiade mathématique du Canada (OMC) Financière Sun Life et son Repêchage de qualification sont des concours sur invitation. Ces concours sont réservés aux étudiants en mathématiques les plus doués qui pourraient être intéressés à représenter le Canada à l’Olympiade internationale de mathématiques 2014 (OIM) en Afrique du Sud avec l’Équipe mathématique du Canada, s’ils sont sélectionnés. Les candidats doivent donc être citoyens canadiens ou résidents permanents du Canada, peu importe où ils habitent en ce moment.
Invitations à l'OMC
Cette année, les élèves suivants, qui ont obtenu une note de 60/80 ou plus au DOCM, ont reçu une invitation à l’OMC, qui se tiendra le 2 avril 2014.

Invitations au Repêchage de qualification de l'OMC
Les élèves suivants, qui ont obtenu une note variant entre 53/80 et 59/80 au DOCM, ont reçu une invitation au Repêchage de qualification, qui se tiendra par courriel au début de février. 10 - 15 des meilleurs élèves au Repêchage recevront par la suite une invitation à l’OMC du 2 avril.
