The CMS Committee for Women in Mathematics, in cooperation with the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS) and the Banff International Research Station (BIRS) is organizing a workshop for women graduate students in the mathematical sciences at Canadian universities, which will take place at the Banff International Research Station, Banff, Alberta, from July 21-23, 2005.

Format:
Thirty women will be selected to participate in the workshop, on the basis of their applications. They will be attending plenary talks in mathematics, and panel and small group discussions. Each participant will be expected to give a 20 min. presentation on their research interests or present a poster.

Eligibility:
Women graduate students in the mathematical sciences at Canadian universities are invited to apply through this website. All applications should include:

  1. A statement of interest (max.500 words)
  2. A title and short abstract of their talk (max. 100 words)
  3. At least one letter of support, including one from the student's supervisor. Letters should be send by email to the chair of the organizing committe, Judith McDonald, at jmcdonald@math.wsu.edu, with CWiMAC and the applicant's name on the subject line.

The deadline for applications is May 15, 2005. Selected participants will be notified by May 21, 2005.

Registration fee: $50

Accommodation:
Participants and organizers will be staying at the Banff International Research Station (BIRS).  Accepted participants will be contacted by BIRS with further information.   All the rooms at this residence are single rooms with shared bath. Accommodation is provided by BIRS.
