Functors for the working combinatorialist  [PDF]

As is well known, functors often describe natural constructions on the underlying objects of the source category. Paraphasing the title of the classical book by Maclane, we will illustrate how various functorial ``algebras'' may be turned into efficient tool to describe and specify combinatorial constructions; as well as prove natural identities between them.
