Description of Activity:
Math Enrichment Centre at Carleton University offers enrichment courses for students in grades 3-12. Our total enrollment grew from 500 students in 2016/17 to 600 students participating in our programs on a weekly basis in 2017/18. We added one new course in January 2017 (Math Connections in Arts and Science) and three new courses in September 2017 (Number Theory (gr.6-7), Algorithms I (gr.8-9) and Quantum Computing (gr.11-12).
Assessment of Effectiveness:
Our programs are in big demand (most of our classes are full), and much appreciated in the community.
Future Plans (if any):
We will be gradually expanding our programs, and plan to add a Physics course in September 2018.
Financial:
The Endowment Grant funds were used to purchase supplies (mini whiteboards) for the new course "Number Theory" for grade 6-7 students.
