Title of Project: MathLink - enrichment program for high school students

Year of Competition: 2013

Grant amount: $500

Project Duration: Single Year

Type of Report: Annual

Period Covered: January 1, 2014 - September 30, 2014

Description of Activity:
MathLink offers an opportunity for high school students in grades 9-10 to see mathematics that goes beyond school curriculum. It has been running since 2006 with a generous support through CMS Endowment grants. Every week 25-30 students attend MathLink classes at Carleton University.

Assessment of Effectiveness:
The goal of this project is to motivate bright students to learn mathematics. I believe we reach this goal and the students appreciate the opportunity MathLink provides.

Future Plans (if any):
Last year Carleton University established the Math Enrichment Centre. This Centre now offers 7 enrichment programs and courses for students in grades 7-12. In January 2015 we plan to expand our offerings with a program "Math Kangaroo Adventures" for younger students in grades 3-6.

Financial:
The $500 amount of the Endowment grant was used to print posters and handouts promoting our Math enrichment activities.
