Type of Report: Annual

Description of Activity:
MathLink offers an opportunity for high school students in grades 9-10 to see mathematics that goes beyond school curriculum. It has been running since 2006 with a generous support through CMS Endowment grants. In 2012-13 academic year, while Yuly Billig was away on sabbatical, Gennady Shaikhet run this activity on a bi-weekly basis. Starting in September 2013, MathLink resumed its activities on a weekly basis. Each week 20 to 40 high school students meet at Carleton University to do interesting and challenging math.

Assessment of Effectiveness:
The goal of this project is to motivate bright students to learn mathematics. I believe we reach this goal and the students appreciate the opportunity MathLink provides.

Future Plans (if any):
MathLink will be running in future. In addition to MathLink, at Carleton Univerity we have now 3 other enrichment programs and courses, for students in grades 7-12. In the future we are looking to expanding our activities for younger students in grades 5-6.
