Description of Activity:
The CMS Endowment Grant funding has been used to cover expenses relating to Nipissing University Mathematics Education, Research and Information Centre's (NUMERIC) second annual Mathematics Fair which was held on April 27th, 2009. Remaining funds will be used to cover expenses relating to our Gr 9/10 Mathematics Competition to be held on December 11, 2009, and relating to our Gr 11/12 Mathematics Competition to be held on May 7, 2010.
Assessment of Effectiveness:
The Mathematics Fair was once again a successful event with students from Grades 7-12 entering their projects in different categories. For full information pertaining to the rules, program schedule, categories, and results (including photographs of this year's winners), please refer to our website:

The event was covered by local media, with parents/teachers/professors attending the Fair. The Dean of Arts and Science was in attendance to distribute awards to all winners.
Future Plans (if any):
The junior (Grades 9/10) and senior (Grades 11/12) Mathematics Competitions were very successful in terms of student/teacher involvment in the first two years in which they were hosted (2007-08 and 2008-09). We are making plans for our third installment of these competitions for the 2009-10 school year and fully expect them to likewise be well attended and enjoyed. For copies of mathematics content problem sets and solutions (note: these are marked by volunteers in stages during the competition day, so that immediate results/feedback is possible and winners announced before students leave), and full results from past years, please refer to our website:
