Roots of chromatic polynomials

Roots of chromatic polynomials have attracted considerable attention from the very beginning, as, of course, one more than the largest integral root is the chromatic number. We will survey here some recent results on both the nature and location of the roots, including some bounds derived from both complex analysis and commutative algebra.
