Lessons Learned from Teaching Calculus in the Context of a First-Year Integrated Science Course  [PDF]

Science 100 at the University of Alberta is a full-year course that explores and teaches the concepts and foundations of seven scientific disciplines in a unified and integrated manner. I have been part of the course from its inception, and taught the calculus component for the last 6 years. I will share some of the trials and tribulations of this experience, and reflect on the insights that I have gained about teaching calculus from the point of view of educating the next generation of scientists.
