For many years my idea of using technology in the classroom was drawing pictures with colored chalk. However I recently had the opportunity to help develop two fully-online Calculus courses for Distance Education. This was in many ways an eye-opening experience. In this talk I will try to share with you some of my observations about the process, the potential for teaching mathematics online, what I learned about today's students, and how this endeavor might impact my approach to teaching mathematics in the classroom.
