   University of British Columbia : Three-Year Research and Teaching Position

The University of British Columbia invites applications for a three-year research and teaching position. The candidate will be part of the Science Centre for Learning and Teaching (Skylight) team, but will be based in the Mathematics Department.

Responsibilities will include:

  • development of curriculum and innovative teaching methodologies for mathematics courses, especially in first-year calculus;
  • teaching lower-level mathematics courses as well as courses taught by the Mathematics Department for prospective elementary and high-school mathematics teachers;
  • facilitating the learning and teaching of mathematics
  • research in the learning and teaching of mathematics

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • supporting the Mathematics Department's tutorial services for undergraduate courses;
  • supporting the Mathematics Department's outreach programs for K-12 students;
  • training new mathematics instructors;

Qualifications:

  • PhD in an appropriate discipline with at least an MSc level in mathematics
  • Evidence of successful teaching at the post-secondary level is essential.

This appointment is subject to annual evaluation.
