DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTING SCIENCE
TENURE-TRACK APPOINTMENT

The Department of Mathematics and Computing Science at Saint Mary's University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Mathematics at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin July 1, 2020. Applicants from any area of pure mathematics are invited to apply. Some preference will be given to candidates whose area is compatible with the research activities of the current members of the department (please see https://smu.ca/academics/departments/math-and-cs-research.html for more information).

Applicants should have strong evidence of teaching and research ability in Mathematics. An earned doctorate in Mathematics or related field by the appointment start date is required and postdoctoral experience is preferred.

The Faculty of Science, which houses the Department of Mathematics and Computing Science, has gone through significant renewal in the past decade, with many new and active faculty involved in teaching and research. Our facilities have also been renewed and all space housing members of the Faculty of Science and the Department of Mathematics and Computing Science have been recently renovated and upgraded. We are working to establish and build upon areas of distinct research strength, and foster collaborations locally, regionally, and internationally.

Saint Mary's University is located in the historic port city of Halifax, Nova Scotia, a vibrant, urban community of over 430,000 people. Halifax is a ma- jor educational centre for Atlantic Canada and is home to five universities. It is conveniently located to recreational areas and to other major urban cen- tres in Canada and the Northeastern United States.
