The Faculty of Science invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Applied Mathematics. Preferred research areas are Stochastic Processes, Optimization and Numerical Analysis, however exceptional candidates from any field of Applied Mathematics will be considered. The appointment will be at the Assistant Professor rank. This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on July 1st, 2019 or at a mutually agreeable time, preferably no later than August 2019.

Applicants should possess a PhD in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics or a related discipline and a strong academic background with demonstrated achievement in teaching and research. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue an active and innovative research program and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate will play an integral role in the growth, development and identity of the undergraduate Applied and Industrial Mathematics Program and the graduate program in Modelling and Computational Science (MSc/PhD).

In keeping with a technology-enhanced learning environment utilizing laptop computers and wireless connectivity, UOIT seeks faculty members who will utilize a technology-enhanced learning approach, and who strive to explore and develop new pedagogies.

The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 40% Research, 40% Teaching and 20% Service workload each year.

This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association. The collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the tenured and tenure track collective agreement.
