    Tenure-Track Position in Mathematics

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (Mathematics)

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Lethbridge invites applications for a Tenure-Track Faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Mathematics. The appointment will commence July 1, 2019, subject to budgetary approval.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Mathematics. The areas of research are open. The department's current areas of strength in mathematical research include number theory and combinatorics, with individuals conducting research in several other areas. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a continuing research program, to seek external funding, and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level. Supervision of graduate students at both the Masters and Ph.D. level is expected.

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science runs a well equipped Unix network, including undergraduate Linux machine laboratories, and has access to PC and Mac labs. Through University membership in the Westgrid program, a Canada Foundation for Innovation initiative covering Western Canada, researchers also have access to a diverse range of equipment from supercomputers to visualization equipment. The Department and University are student-focused, comprehensive (research intensive, with undergraduate and graduate student programming), and grounded in liberal education.

Located in Southern Alberta, not far from the Rocky Mountains, the city of Lethbridge enjoys a sunny, dry climate that is surprisingly mild, has excellent cultural and recreational amenities, and offers attractive economic conditions.
