Trent University invites applications for a 12-month full-time, limited-term appointment in the Department of Mathematics at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position will start August 15, 2017, subject to budgetary approval. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching in Pure Mathematics, including the following (tentative):
MATH 1350H (fall term) Linear Algebra I: Matrix Algebra
MATH 3790H (fall term) Real Analysis
MATH 4810H (fall term) Perspectives in Mathematics
MATH 2350H (winter term) Linear Algebra II: Vector Spaces
MATH 3770H (winter term) Complex Analysis
One more course at the first-year level will be taught during the summer 2018 term. The position also involves participation in the supervision of undergraduate Honours Projects.
In general, the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a willingness to develop challenging and innovative approaches to teaching, as well as an ability to work closely with colleagues and students. Applicants should have a Ph.D in Mathematics, undergraduate teaching experience, and an active research program.
