Tier II Canada Research Chair in Financial Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a Tier II Canada Research Chair position at the level of a tenure-track Assistant Professor or tenured Associate Professor in Financial Mathematics, to commence on July 1, 2015. The position is subject to final budgetary approval.
The desired candidate will show a significant international standing, with evidence of an outstanding research program, grant funding and highly qualified personnel supervision. The successful candidates will hold a PhD or international equivalent in Mathematics or Statistics, preferably with postdoctoral experience, and must demonstrate a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate teaching and supervision. It will be expected of the candidate to have demonstrated excellence in research and be at the forefront of outreach into the financial/insurance industry, attracting funding and creating productive relations nationwide. We encourage applications from junior to experienced researchers/professionals in the field of financial mathematics. The level of the appointment will be commensurate to the experience of the applicant. All Chairs are subject to review and final approval by the CRC Secretariat. The Department of Mathematics has 20 regular faculty members. Research interests include discrete mathematics, financial mathematics, fluid dynamics and mathematical biology. The department has a strong graduate program in applied mathematics and large, vibrant undergraduate programs in financial mathematics, and in mathematics and its applications.
