The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Lethbridge is seeking two Assistant Professors for probationary (tenure-track) positions, and one Instructor for a probationary (continuing) position, to begin July 1, 2015, subject to budgetary approval.

For the Assistant Professor positions, a Ph.D. in mathematics is required and the field of research is open. The successful candidates will be expected to develop a continuing research program, to seek external funding, and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Supervision of graduate students at both the Masters and Ph.D. levels is expected. New faculty are eligible to apply for university funding in support of research and scholarly activities.

For the Instructor position, a Ph.D. in mathematics or statistics is required, and any degree in computer science would be an asset. This is a teaching position and so teaching excellence is essential and highly desirable. We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspiring teacher for this position. The successful applicant will play a key role in the delivery of our junior undergraduate program. Duties will include lecturing in a variety of core and elective courses, and the running and supervision of tutorial sections.

The Department has undergone a major expansion. It runs a well-equipped Unix network, including undergraduate Linux machine laboratories, and has access to PC and Mac labs. Through university membership in the Westgrid program, a Canada Foundation for Innovation Initiative covering Western Canada, researchers also have access to a diverse range of equipment from supercomputers to visualization equipment.
