Tenure-Track Position in Information Engineering

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto invites applications for a position in the tenure-stream at the rank of Assistant Professor in the broadly defined area of Information Engineering, including but not limited to: data mining, analysis of complex systems, multi-scale modeling, deterministic and stochastic approaches to modeling, optimization, and computational methods. The successful candidate will show leadership and innovation in research and teaching.
This outstanding opportunity was made possible by a group of large Canadian firms who are partners in our research on the application of mathematics, operations research, systems modeling to challenges faced by the financial services industry and provides a unique opportunity to work closely in university-industry cooperative research.
Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. or equivalent, demonstrated excellence in research and/or exceptional innovation in the commercial sector, and excellent teaching skills. The successful applicant will be expected to initiate and lead an independent research program of international caliber, and participate in inter-disciplinary research with finance and information technology peers. The successful applicant will also be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level in our chemical engineering programs. Business experience and entrepreneurial activities are welcome qualities in a candidate.
Salary will be commensurate with the applicant's qualifications and academic and/or industrial experience.
