NSERC University Faculty Award
The Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, at the University of Alberta, is actively seeking to nominate a candidate for an NSERC University Faculty Award in the Fall 2006 competition.
The University Faculty Award was created by NSERC to encourage Canadian universities to appoint outstanding women and aboriginal researchers to tenure-track positions in science and engineering. The nominee will have an excellent record of research and publication. We are particularly interested in candidates who work in a field related to an area of existing or emerging strength in the Department, although other areas will be considered. Some areas of research excellence, recently highlighted by the Faculty of Science, include algebra, functional analysis, fluid dynamics, statistics, mathematical biology, and scientific computing. The candidate will also have a strong commitment to and aptitude for teaching undergraduate students, and will be expected to supervise graduate theses.
This tenure-track appointment is scheduled to begin on or near July 1, 2007.
