The Department of Applied Mathematics at The University of Western Ontario invites applications for a tenure-stream junior faculty position, in conjunction with an Associate Member position at the nearby Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, Ontario. It is anticipated that this appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level, but exceptional candidates may be considered for an appointment as Associate Professor. This joint position with Perimeter Institute would be expected to commence on September 1, 2003.

We seek an outanding young researcher with a proven excellence for research in one or more of the following fields: theoretical elementary particle physics, quantum field theory (including string theory), quantum gravity, cosmology, and quantum information theory. The position will entail active research collaboration with theoretical physicists in The Department of Applied Mathematics at The University of Western Ontario as well as with researchers at Perimeter Institute. The position will also entail active participation in the activities of the Department of Applied Mathematics, including the supervision of graduate students and teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
