Department of Pure Mathematics
University of Waterloo
Applications are being accepted for a tenured faculty position at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor in the Department of Pure Mathematics at the University of Waterloo. The successful candidate will be expected to assume a leadership role in an area of pure mathematics that is consistent with the Department's long--term research plans. Duties include research, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, and supervising graduate students.
The Department of Pure Mathematics has 23 full--time faculty members and 1 cross--appointed faculty member. Some of the Department's faculty members also have ties with the nearby Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. The Department has a substantial graduate program, currently with 34 graduate students pursuing Masters or PhD degrees. The undergraduate program in pure mathematics is well known for its rigour and the strong preparation it provides students continuing on to graduate programs in pure mathematics.
Candidates interested in this exciting leadership position should have a PhD or equivalent in pure mathematics and an outstanding record in research. Serious consideration will be given to the candidate's potential for success in graduate student supervision, the candidate's record in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level, and evidence of effective leadership.
